Bound is a long-view creative practice grounded in attention, truth, and communication. The work shows up across art, design, research, and strategy, often where meaning is still forming, translation matters, or when words carry real consequence.
I’m Dave Alsobrooks, based in Durham, North Carolina. I’m an artist from the South, but it’s not that cut and dry. Being from the South is full of contradictions. Listening to The Geto Boys on the way to church. Humidity with suits and ties. Integrated schools and segregated towns. New South. Old South. Bless your heart. Those tensions are familiar to me, and I carry them into how I see the world and how I work.
I tend to follow opportunities that feel right, shaped by attention rather than impulse or tidy explanation. That instinct has led me to partner in a market research and strategy firm, take on executive and advisory roles in data-driven organizations, work as a fractional brand lead for nonprofits, and build a parallel life as a conceptual artist. Across my work, my habits stay the same. Pay attention, rush less, communicate intentionally.
I also burn toast, make typos, and skip most social outings. And yet, somehow I stay connected to the wider world through people rather than platforms. If something here resonates, let me know.
